I am so happy to have the opportunity to rave about Lindsay’s wedding coordination skills. She was an absolute dream to work with for Josh and I. We got married on July 26th, 2008. The minute we met, I knew she was going to be a perfect match for us. Lindsay’s disposition was spot-on for what we were looking for in a coordinator.
She is calm and thoughtful, while remaining honest and straightforward. These characteristics are what I love most about Lindsay – I was very concerned about making sure our coordinator wasn’t going to be bossy or showy. I wanted a coordinator who would be calm and take care of things behind the scenes without commanding much attention from the guests. Lindsay managed this perfectly! She was able to take care of things calmly, quickly, and with determination.
In helping me plan the logistics of the day, she was full of suggestions, but only when I asked for them. She sat down with me several times throughout the wedding planning process, and consistently listened to all of my wedding details and my overall “vision,” and then she helped me see how the logistics behind my ideas needed to work.
She put together an awesome timeline for our wedding day. It was stunningly complicated, yet incredibly efficient in the end! For instance, Josh and I took photos before the wedding, but NOT with each other. Since Josh and I had decided not to see each other prior to the wedding ceremony, we wanted to get most of the photos out of the way without seeing eachother. Lindsay helped us develop “shifts” for the photos, and it left Josh and I only taking about 5 “formal” family photos after the ceremony ended. This way, we made it to our cocktail hour while still preserving that “first look” moment as I came down the aisle. The timeline was utterly genius in design!
I had SO many little details that I cared about, and she promised to ensure that everything was set up as I had pictured in my mind. She made sure the tables were perfect, the photos were exactly right, and the floor plan was as I had specified. For our reception location, we were required to use a particular caterer, and the caterer turned out to be a poor communicator and pretty difficult to work with. Lindsay handled all the little miscommunications that arose (from the caterers’ end) with grace and professionalism, and most importantly, I didn’t even know about the little food and timeline issues that came up, and neither did our guests. She protected my sanity (and my family’s) by making sure that all of us were blissfully ignorant of any of the little changes on the day of the wedding.
Lindsay worked very hard to understand my needs, and as a result, I was able to have the wedding I always dreamed of, and I was able to ENJOY it, too! Everybody directed their questions to Lindsay on the day of, which left my family and I free to enjoy the fun and meaning of the day. In my opinion, this is what a perfect coordinator does, because as the bride, I didn’t want my mother or I to worry about logistics or complications on such an important day.
I am so relieved that Lindsay was there to field questions from vendors, to take care of payments, and to help us stay on track with our timeline. I was critically detail-oriented while planning our wedding, so I was extremely nervous about handing the control off to just anybody. The fact that I was so blissfully happy and carefree on the wedding day is a HUGE credit to Lindsay…I was able to trust her entirely and completely with the whole wedding. I knew it would go off without a hitch as long as she was there!
